Practice Tips
One of the most important things to concentrate on in practice is consistancy. Sure that great string you just racked up is great, but if you can't do it consistantly then it was probably just luck.
When you practice try to focus on a specific aspect that you want to improve on such as your footwork, follow through or timing. Work on that one aspect for that particular practice session. It will be boring but in the end you'll improve much faster.
Before the Shot
This is something I picked up that helped immensly. The one thing most people do is they think TOO much. If you are new to the sport then you don't have instinct to rely on but if you have been bowling for a few months then you really need to balance your concentration. The mind is too slow to process all the information that is required to send that ball down the alley.
During practice most people generally do better than in competition because they are not as concentrated. Learn to let go a bit during a few league matches and see how it goes. Just make sure you that you actually trust yourself. You know you can do this, you've done it for years, jsut do it!
Stare at those pins!
From the moment you setup your feet to the time you release the ball you should have all your attention on the pins. They are your target so why look at the ball or the gutters or the ground. Focus on the pins and with some practice you will improve quickly.
